Six out of every ten people in our communities go to bed with empty stomachs.
This, we find unacceptable.
We are a social enterprise that wants to change this reality
by partnering with impact entrepreneurs to create sustainable solutions
to reduce poverty in under-resourced communities.
Founder of Faded Black Innovations
Sonwabo began his career as a financial advisor for two of the leading financial organizations in South Africa, Nedbank Corporate & Old Mutual. He soon realized that he was drawn to community development and upliftment and wanted to pursue that.
He joined Awethu Project, an award winning social enterprise that assists small and medium businesses in communities to be able to compete in the global market. His experience here cemented his entrepreneurial passion and he has since ventured out on his own.
In 2014 he was selected by Spark* International as one of its Changemakers, to participate in their world-class entrepreneurship Accelerator.
Currently, Faded Black Innovations is in partnership with Spark* International, Gauteng Department of Education and Westonaria local Municip ality to see its vision of empowering the community of Bekkersdal with its entrepreneurship solutions.
Sonwabo is currently on a scholarship at Gordon Business Institute of Business Science studying leadership which will be fundamental on his entrepreneurial journey.
To date, Faded Black Innovations has built a library and bakery as part of its efforts to improve the lives of people in Bekkersdal.
Our model is super simple and built on two main pillars.
